A Day Late and a Dollar Short

Good morning. I’m sorry this blog is late; I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving. As we approach the holiday season, I realize how close I am to the release date of my book. I am full of so many emotions I can hardly define how I feel. I know you haven’t been told what that date is yet.

I will be announcing it publicly here on the last blog of the year.

On December 29, 2023, instead of a blog post, I will send a video of my campaign ad to your email. This will only be for those who signed up to my mailing list. Everyone else will have to wait to see the ad when I launch my campaign at the start of January.

What campaign am I talking about?

I’m glad you asked.

Publishing a book is an expensive process. I want Amber’s Awakening to be the very best it can be. I am currently working with four beta readers, and once I am done editing after they have given me their final critiques, I will take a break from the book itself so I can focus on raising money for publication.

I will launch a fundraising campaign through IndieGoGo. During this Campaign, Backers have the opportunity to preorder a copy of Amber's Awakening and, through a tier-based system, depending on how much they purchase, will also get swag. I am very nervous. I have never done anything like this before, and It’s a little scary.

I am constantly thinking, ‘What if.’ What if…I don’t raise enough? What if…I can’t fulfill my promises? What if…my product doesn’t turn out?

I could keep going, but I won’t. I will say that without risk, there is no reward. I know what I want, and I know that I will never know the answer to these what-ifs if I don’t take a leap of faith and do it.

So here I am, writing this blog and planning out my holiday schedule for my campaign preparations, hoping that it will be enough to get me the best possible publication. My other thoughts go to you, my readers. I know from my beta readers that my book is good and that all who read it will enjoy it. I am excited to take you on this journey with me as I introduce you to Amber and her destiny.

I also have to plan for Christmas and at least two major birthdays.  It’s a busy time of year for our family, and I am looking forward to the hustle and bustle, the music, and the smell of cinnamon-scented pinecones.

Happy Thanksgiving (2 days late). Until next time, my friends.
